Approaches

Local/regional economic development
Through the application of Participatory Appraisal of Competitive Advantage (PACA®). PREDA Plus has trained practitioners in this approach that was used to make territorial diagnosis in four planning regions in Macedonia (Pelagonia, Vardar, Polog and North-East planning region). The approach is participative (involves and motivates local stakeholders and transfers know-how to them on how to take actions, appraisal of (quickly scans the local economy, assesses ongoing local economic development activities) competitive advantage (identifies strengths, skills, talents and opportunities).

The DCED Standard for Results Measurement
Provides programmes working in complex market systems with the framework, tools and incentives to monitor their results in a systematic way. PREDA Plus has the experience of this method and applies its elements in order to prove (report) credible results to our donors, supporters, but also to improve our internal processes on time.

Market system development
Approach transforms the system around the target beneficiaries, stimulating growth and expanding access. This approach recognizes this reality and provides coherent, rigorous approach to understand and intervene in market system so that they function more efficiently and sustainably for targeted beneficiaries. Applicable to agencies working in both economic and social fields, the approach provides guidance not only on understanding the poor in market systems (analysis) but on how to bring about effective change (action). Analysis should identify the underlying causes (rather than symptoms) of weak market system performance in order to realize large-scale change. Intervention should continually strive to leverage the actions of key market players to bring about extensive and deep-seated system change. The approach focuses on stimulating a change in behaviour of market players – public and private, formal and informal – so that they are better able and motivated to perform important market functions effectively.
