It gathered together local citizens, international guests, national and foreign tourists (up to 1500 visitors) which enjoyed the tastes of the food and culture of South Kosovo.
The Opening ceremony (on the 16th of August) combined the tradition of the region with the contemporary approaches for promotion of the regional gastronomic assets into one unique and attractive event. The Festival’s rich program included two-day tasting events which promoted South Kosovo’s gastronomic touristic offer, its potentials, and the beauty of Prizren.
The brochure “Gastronomic routes of South Kosovo” was also promoted at the Festival. It sublimates South Kosovo’s gastronomic assets in one useful info-tool for routes and itineraries, contact information as well as ideas everyone who wants to discover the tradition, food and culture of the region. The five gastronomic routes are accessible through the smart-phones applications as well.
The TourTaste applications are user friendly, easy to navigate, and provide all the needed information about the selected five gastronomic routes. It suggests venues where you can taste the specific kind of food, provides contact and location information of the venues, as well as photos of delicious dishes included in each route.
The festival program was enriched with the additional side-events, which included 150 participants/respondents. The potential for development of gastronomic tourism and the respective approaches were addressed at the info-seminars which included 40 participants and covered the topics of “Development of rural tourism trough innovations in local gastronomy” and “Innovative approaches for sustainable gastronomic tourism”. The tasting events were followed by the quality evaluation events whose findings emphasized the satisfaction of the visitors from both the food served and the Festival as a whole. The strong beliefs in the potential for development as well as the wishes for traditionalizing the Festival were the main comments given by the gests.
